Press release – Local civic support and action center

The Development and Psychotherapy by Action Association will set up a local civic support and action center active in the field of protection of women’s rights and equality of gender in Dolj County

The project „Battle is not broken from heaven! ” is developed by the Association for Development and Action Psychotherapy in partnership with The Norwegian Moreno Institute with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania, a program funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.

The aim of the project is to ensure the establishment in Predești commune, Dolj county of a local center of support and civic action, which will be active in the field of protection of women’s rights, gender equality, concretely contributing to the local development of an environment. Socially involved NGO, and at the same time contributing to the increase of the capacity of local women, victims of gender violence to manage the risk situations they face as a result of the positive effects of the project activities.

The objectives of the project are:

• Establishment of a local Center for support and civic action that will directly contribute to the long-term development of the sustainability and capacity of the civil society sector in Predești, Dolj and surroundings to be actively involved in combating gender violence through specific actions that will be carried out through the center both during the 3 years of implementation and at least 5 years after its completion. Thus, through the building, the community will benefit from a local Center to support victims of domestic violence.

• Raising awareness for 3,000 locals about human rights, promoting treatment, combating discrimination and gender-based violence by running a campaign in this regard. The campaign will help local women to be aware of their rights and the measures they should take in the event of a risk of violence. The campaign will also increase understanding among men about the consequences of violence against women. Through questionnaires implemented in the target communities and through weekly fairs we will help with this growth.

• 65 women at risk of gender-based violence or victims of gender-based violence in the rural area covered by the project are advised to change their “victim status” after participating for 18 months in innovative training sessions. psychological counseling and guidance (use of new psychodrama techniques and virtual reality) carried out in a safe space within the Local Support and Action Center

The main beneficiaries of the project are women and young people in the project area who become more aware of their rights, as a result of the campaign to promote gender equality. Also, 65 locals, victims of gender violence, will benefit for 18 months from psychological counseling services in order to acquire behavioral skills that will give them the courage to report cases of violence and to take action against the abuses they face. are subject. They will also be able to benefit from virtual reality counseling to help them regain their courage.

About the Active Citizens Fund Romania Program

The Active Citizens Fund Romania program is financed by the EEA Grants 2014-2021. The overall objective of the Grants is to reduce economic and social disparities and to strengthen bilateral relations between the 15 beneficiary states and the donor states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway). The program is administered by the consortium composed of the Foundation for Civil Society Development, the Partnership Foundation, the Resource Center for Roma Communities, the PACT Foundation and Frivillighet Norge, which acts as a Fund Operator designated by the FMO – Grants Financial Mechanism Office EEA and Norway. Active Citizens Fund Romania aims to strengthen civil society and active citizenship and increase the capacity of vulnerable groups.
